Is it like Vancouver, where you sit on the beach and a fire in the night? Please Nanaimo, there are anywhere else on the island, where you can swim in the sea, or at least walk on water?

The water is very cold here, so I'll probably really swim in the sea .. is very salty, full of algae ... not very good for this activity. North of Parksville and Nanaimo, a township Beachy, beaches with fine sand ... cold, but enough for a walk, and not a big trip to Nanaimo (if you have a car). Most beaches are rocky. If you are visiting, you go as a tourist information center in Yourhotels or city, as they have plently of information for you.
